Super Automatic Espresso Machines

If you want the top of the line and if money is no object, and you just want great espresso without learning any skills, then look no further than a super automatic machine.

The machine determines the amount of water to be used. Typically these machines have a button for a single shot of espresso, and another button for a double-shot.

In addition, some super automatic machines provide…
• Automatic dosing
• Automatic grinding on demand
• Automatic production of steamed milk

Automatic Espresso Machines

If you’re more interested in convenience rather than learning to pull a great espresso, then an automatic machine might be just for you.

The automatic machines have the same components as a semi-automatic and you have the convenience of electronic controls to start and stop the brew cycle automatically. You simply dial in the time and the machine does the rest, hence the word “automatic”.
Most of these automatic machines can be programmed to stop short for a “ristretto” or long for a “lungo”.

Semi-Automatic Espresso Machines

The semi-automatics are the most common type of home espresso machines mainly because of their price and level of control and are well suited for home use.

They are ideal for the coffee enthusiast who wants to create great espresso and doesn’t mind developing a little skill and doing a little clean up.

What Is Espresso?

Espresso is simply the term for coffee that is finely ground to almost
a powdery consistency, then hot water (not boiling) is forced through
the grounds under specific pressure for a specific amount of time.

This brewing process is timed so that the flavorful and aromatic
oils are extracted from the coffee and not the bitter components. The
results are a full-flavored, strong but not bitter, concentrated shot
of coffee with golden marbleized foam that covers the top of the
espresso called the "crema". Yum... Yum...
