De’Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker | Successful Combination of Classic Design & Cutting-Edge Technology

De'Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker Review

Among the several notable achievements of major Italian small appliance manufacturer De’Longhi is being able to produce well-designed espresso makers since this company was founded in 1902.  Even after all these years, De’Longhi shows no signs of slowing down. Case in point: the De’Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker.

De’Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker

The De’Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker is part of the De’Longhi Icona Collection, which is De’Longhi’s most stylish espresso machine range yet. Indeed, this espresso maker’s chic design harkens back to the period when Italian design was at its peak of popularity. But the espresso maker’s compact exterior (10.2″ x 11.4″ x 15″ in dimensions; 8 lbs) is made of metal and has bold, modern touches; making it a stunning, sturdy, nonanachronistic conversation piece that can fit virtually anywhere you’d place it at home.

But this doesn’t mean the espresso maker is just another piece of art. Intended to be of great help in preparing proper coffee at home, it comes with the best in coffee-brewing technology. To be precise, it has a ‘crema filter’, a ‘cappuccino system’, two separate thermostats, and 15-bar pressure pump. The crema filter is De’Longhi’s patented dual-function filter holder. It holds both ground coffee and easy-serving espresso (ESE) pods. Each ESE pod contains a premeasured amount of coffee, which saves you from the chore of having to measure it yourself to suit your taste; making brewing coffee truly convenient. The cappuccino system is De’Longhi’s patented, built-in, conveniently placed milk frothing wand. It enables you to make luscious, long-lasting milk foam for lattes and cappuccinos; ensuring every cup will be great. Having two separate thermostats enables you to control the water and steam pressures separately, which means you’ll be able to prepare espresso or cappuccino at the right temperature for each one as well; resulting in the best cups possible. 15 bars is enough pressure for extracting as much of the flavor of the ground coffee beans as possible, which ensures every cup of coffee is full bodied. If you’d worry that it will be difficult to control all these features, the espresso maker comes with an intuitive, three-button control panel with indicator lights on the front—on/off  switch, coffee-hot water temperature control button, and steam pressure control button—making it easy to control indeed.

The rest of the useful features of the espresso maker are: self-priming operation, which saves you from the chore of having to fire it up yourself; high-quality stainless steel boiler, which ensures it can last long; cup-warming with rails, which enables you to leave your cup of coffee here for awhile without worrying that it might be cold when you return, or that your coffee might spill; 1.4 L (48 oz) removable water tank and drip tray, which makes cleaning it a snap; and built-in tamper, which enables you to measure the ground coffee beans you’d use precisely.

Although the compact design of the De’Longhi ECO310W Espresso Maker saves you from giving up more space for it than you’d like, a few consumers have complained about it. They say the small cup holders are a pain. They also say the coffee hopper’s limited capacity makes brewing multiple cups of coffee a chore. The other drawbacks that consumers have taken note of are the cup warmer’s not being as useful as expected, the milk frother’s not being able to generate enough heat, the annoying noise and steam generated during the coffee-brewing process, and the espresso maker’s tendency to break down only after a brief period of use. Nevertheless, it has received a rating of 3 and a half stars out of 5 on Amazon.

A great place to buy is on Amazon and here is why:

  1. All the reviews are like having hundreds of really good friends give you their personal experience with the espresso machine, then taking all of that personal experience and giving it a star rating. You’re buying quality when there are hundreds of fans of the machine.
  2. A friendly UPS driver will deliver it right to your door. No waiting in line, no hauling it in your car. No sore muscles or achy back the next day.
  3. Amazon has the best price 99% of the time. Amazon constantly watches competitor pricing and makes sure you get the best deal. They do a ton of business and take advantage of economies of scale, which means you get the savings!
  4. FREE shipping. Enough said.
  5. Returns are easy. Amazon recently shipped a car, and they ship a ton of large items, all day, every day. If they can ship a car, rest assured, you will get your espresso machine in perfect condition. BUT if for any reason it comes damaged, it is super easy to return. Just print out a UPS label, slap it on the box and a friendly UPS driver will pick it up, free of charge. This is way easier than waiting in a return line at Williams & Sonoma talking with a snoody sales clerk.

I am a die-hard espresso fan. I love every form of the drink from straight espresso shots to lattes and cappuccinos. I currently use a Breville BES870XL Barista, it is an awesome machine. BUT, my dream machine is definitely an Italian Quickmill Andreja. Those bad boys make badass espresso. I love answering your questions, leave a comment or question below!
